A Moving Picture

Well one month and a couple of sleepless nights and I have two seconds out of my two minute film done... i hope, maybe, for the most part? Still some tweaks in there. Some color correction. I dunno. All I know is I haven't posted a single thing of my thesis up here and it is about time I do.

I have been really striving for a old timie look. I might even push it more if it doesn't seem to distracting or takes away from the piece. Maybe add a film filter or something. I dunno. Thoughts? Here it is. Enjoy

ps. the compression on the movie has desaturated the colors a bit. :(

wow! that is so amazing! ok, so first. it went so fast i had to run it a few times. then i stopped it so i could see what was going on. were those trees moving? yes they were. so were the clouds and the water under the bridge and the grass. very nice touch.

cause at first i never thought you could animate them because they look so stiff, but it works really really well, and ties the whole thing together in movement.

the characters look great, the colors in the environment look beautiful, so rich and textured, it doesn't look ominous (well, maybe a tad) it looks enchanted. like there's a charm at work.

think of any disney movie where there's some kind of evil... it's a beautiful evil filled with symbolic details that tell you it's a temporary spell, a lesson needing to be learned and underneath is the beauty that's being hidden.

i like the frame around it. it gives it a slight sense of humor like, don't take this too seriously. the girl being chased will be ok, just like the heroine's in the silent movie era that always get rescued by the hero in the end.

only this is a modern day story. the herione saves the guy!

nicely done. can't wait to see the whole thing.

ps. i don't know about adding the film filter. i guess if it's not too much trouble, try it out and see. but there's a lot going on visually, it might be distracting.

I can't wait to see the whole thesis. I dunno about the old timie look. Maybe, but like citygrrrl, I'd be afraid it might take away from the great colors you have here. Worth a try though, right- I mean, if it's post and it doesn't take up too much time, why not? It's looking really great, though. This is one of my favorites.
