Where am I?

So my boyfriend is upset at me because I haven't posted in ages. Sorry everyone who cares a little bit about this dumb old blog of mine. Right now this blog is the least of my worries. I have 50 something dollars in my bank account and a dark cloud of loans hovering over my head and no job! I promise I will post more once I get some kind of a job thing. Anyone need a house cleaner? Dog walker? Likes to give money to strangers? Honestly, I don't even care what kind of job I get.

I once wanted to do visual development for movies and such but now I know I am just not good enough or determined enough? I don't know. My dream has never been "oh I want to be the best artist ever." No. I have always wanted to make movies or animations. I want to tell stories about the kids on the east coast that live in row homes. I want to tell stories of the jersey shore summer romances. The people you see on the street that have no idea that you are staring at them and noticing how normally beautiful there existence is. Stories of high school and the occasional fantasy awesome sci-fi movie. That is what I want and for some reason I have had this childish attitude like it would happen for me no matter what I did, I just knew I am going to be a movie maker. But that child like bubble has burst and now I realize I need to work for it. Like super duper sit down write a short story film it submit it. And go crazy... but first! A job.

and here is something I did along time ago... for everyone who needs some gianna kind of lovin in there life. i got you bo.

Hey Gigi,

you sound a little discouraged. I too am in a similar position, visual development artist, without a job, without a career, and loan payments coming on strong. So I feel your pain, and you are not the only one. but we got into this stuff because we love it and we felt we had a place in this industry. We simply have a need to create, not to be the best, but to enjoy and express ourselves.

You are an unbelievable artist, and i have no doubt that you are going to do great things out there.

Hey your work is great don't be discouraged. Best thing to do is keep calling people! look up phone numbers online and say hey! i wanna meet you! unfortunate part about being an artist is that the real job is finding the jobs, the actual work is the fun part haha. Just stick it out you'll make it! Post more stuff!

Hi Gigi,

I too am an animation student from a different school, I always loved your work, being one of a recent graduate and seeing your post does make my heart sank some.

You are really talented, and that I think the companies out there are obviously missing a great talent.

The only way I can think of to keep yourself noticed is to keep working on new works, new projects, perhaps a new short film even if possible, and send it out to festivals, put it up the net, so on.

Best of luck in your career, Gigi. Luck will always favor the most prepared. :)

This is great stuff, Gigi. I really love how much your work continues to grow. Mooch off your boyfriend in San Francisco for a while and just get yourself out there. Enter shows, go to conferences, sell prints... You've got so much talent, and I know you can make it.

Don't ever give up! You're too close, a lot of your work could easily be in a making of art book.

It's always tough to stand out, you definitely have the chops.

Looks like you've got all the old cartoon styles down pat there...and I can see that's the basis for success in this line of work...and, of course, in time experience brings the maturity we all crave in one form or another.
